In order to have a website, you’re going to need two things…a domain name and a hosting account. Basically, the domain name is what the user types in to access your website or the “file name” per se, and the hosting account is where all the content of your website lives.
There are dozens and dozens of solutions out there when it comes to domain name registrars and hosting accounts, but the ones I’ve used over the years that have worked well for me personally and I believe are very easy to use for beginners and people just starting out are Namecheap for the domain registrar and HostGator shared hosting for the web hosting.
That’s really all there is. The video above explains how to connect your Namecheap domain to your HostGator hosting account.
